在网上，很多人都说： “特朗普在中国的时候，太正经了。” “正经”就是很认真，不乱开玩笑。因为大家觉得，特朗普平时讲话很随便，比较自由，想说什么就说什么，而且动作很多，也很喜欢开玩笑。但是来到中国以后，他看起来突然变得特别安静，特别认真。中国人看到了不一样的他，觉得特别有意思。有人开玩笑说：“特朗普在美国像综艺节目主持人，在中国像来开家长会的爸爸。”家长会，就是家长去学校开会，这些会和他们的孩子有关。
很多人说，特朗普以前讲话的英文特别简单，很容易可以听懂。但是，这几天他在中国的讲话，说了很难的英文，说了很多很长的句子。大家都不太习惯这么严肃的特朗普总统。
还有一些中国网友觉得，其实特朗普很懂场合。“懂场合”就是知道现在是什么情况，知道应该怎么做。他知道什么时候可以随便一点，什么时候应该严肃一点。
很多中国网友看国际新闻的时候，常常有一种“吃瓜”的感觉。“吃瓜”是中国网络很常见的一个词，不是吃真的西瓜，意思只是看热闹。比如别人发生了什么事情，大家在旁边一边看，一边讨论，就叫“吃瓜”。

Online, many people have been saying: “Trump becomes very serious when he’s in China.” “Serious” here means acting formally and not joking around. This is because many people think that Trump usually speaks in a very casual way. He speaks quite freely, says whatever comes to mind, uses lots of gestures, and enjoys making jokes. But after arriving in China, he suddenly seemed much quieter and much more serious. Chinese people saw a different side of him, and they found it quite interesting. Some people joked: “In America, Trump is like a TV variety show host. In China, he’s like a dad attending a parents’ evening.” A parents’ evening is when parents go to school for meetings about their children.
Many people also said that Trump’s English used to be very simple and easy to understand. But during these few days in China, his speeches sounded much more formal. He used more difficult English and much longer sentences. People were not very used to seeing such a serious President Trump.
Some Chinese internet users also think that Trump actually understands different situations very well. “Understanding the situation” means knowing what kind of environment you are in and knowing how you should behave. He knows when he can be more relaxed and when he should act more seriously.
When many Chinese people follow international news, they often have a feeling called “chi gua”. “Chi gua” is a very common Chinese internet expression. It does not mean actually eating watermelon. It means watching drama or gossip from the side. For example, when something happens and everyone watches and discusses it online, that is called “chi gua”.
Actually, it’s not only Trump. When many foreign celebrities or famous people come to China to attend formal events, they also suddenly become quieter and more serious. Some people say this is because Chinese culture is different from American culture. In formal situations, such as meetings or business discussions, people are usually very serious.
