你可能也听说过ChatGPT，它也是一个很聪明的AI。ChatGPT主要是用来和人对话，回答问题、写文章。DeepSeek主要是分析数据，帮助我们发现有用的信息。比如，DeepSeek可以分析很多病人的数据，帮助医生找出哪些人可能得病。而ChatGPT可以和你聊天，回答你的任何问题。

Hello everyone, welcome back to the MaoMi Chinese Podcast! Recently, AI has been very popular in China, and today we’re going to talk about one of the most talked-about AIs—DeepSeek. Have you heard of this name before?
First of all, DeepSeek is an artificial intelligence, or AI. It helps us find useful information from a large amount of data. It’s like a smart assistant that helps us make decisions. An assistant is someone or something that helps us. For example, if you run a shop, DeepSeek can analyse what customers have bought and tell you which products sell the best and when you should restock. This way, you can manage your business better.
You might have also heard of ChatGPT, which is another very intelligent AI. ChatGPT is mainly used for conversations with people, answering questions, and writing articles. DeepSeek, on the other hand, focuses on analysing data to help us discover useful information. For example, DeepSeek can study large amounts of patient data and help doctors identify those who might develop illnesses. ChatGPT, however, is designed for chatting and answering various questions.
DeepSeek is already being used in many places in China. In hospitals, it helps doctors analyse patient data and detect health problems at an early stage. In schools, it can assess students’ learning progress and provide suitable study materials to help them improve.
In the future, AI like DeepSeek could assist us in many more ways. For instance, it could remind you when to drink water, when to take a break, and help you manage your time better. If you go for a run every day, DeepSeek could analyse your health data and suggest how long you should run and whether you should speed up or slow down. If you run a business, DeepSeek could tell you which products are the most popular.
Today, we talked about DeepSeek, an AI that specialises in data analysis. Although both DeepSeek and ChatGPT are AIs, they have different purposes. DeepSeek is excellent at analysing data and helping us make decisions, while ChatGPT is designed for conversations and providing assistance through text. AI is already changing our lives, and in the future, it may help us in even more ways, making life more convenient.
We also learned some AI-related vocabulary today. First, we have “人工智能” (rén gōng zhì néng), which means artificial intelligence or AI—technology that makes machines as smart as humans. Then there is “数据” (shù jù), which means data, referring to information such as numbers or text. We also have “分析” (fēn xī), which means to analyse or study data. Finally, there is “助手” (zhù shǒu), which means an assistant—someone or something that helps you with tasks.

I think I’m going to use your anecdotes and informative reports to help the nice lady in the Chinese restaurant speak Northern Chinese so that I can understand her. Both she and my Chinese mentor speak southern dialects. A Taiwanese person on my cruise thought I was trying to talk like a TV announcer! I told him that Yang Yang, Shou Shou, Emily, and Andy on YouTube are trying to teach me to speak that way! Thank you for helping all of us!
