大家好！欢迎回来MaoMi Chinese！今天我们来聊一聊最近美国人很关心的话题：TikTok和小红书。最近，美国政府可能会禁止TikTok，很多美国人因为不喜欢美国政府的做法，开始用中国的APP，小红书。他们在那里发现了什么？有没有发生一些有趣的故事呢？今天我们一起来聊聊！
首先，什么是TikTok难民呢？最近，美国政府表示TikTok可能“不安全”，所以可能会被禁止。“禁止”的意思是“不能做一个事情”。比如，“学校禁止学生上课玩手机。”很多美国人担心会失去TikTok，这个他们很喜欢的社交媒体，于是开始找其他APP。他们不喜欢其他的美国的社交媒体，所以，他们找到了小红书。
有些美国人开玩笑，叫自己“TikTok难民”。“难民”这个词的意思是因为战争等原因不能在原来的地方生活的人。比如，“很多难民因为战争离开了自己的国家。”不过在这里，难民是那些因为TikTok的问题“逃到”小红书的美国人。这只是一个玩笑，但是非常有趣。
那么，小红书是什么呢？小红书是一个中国非常受欢迎的APP，它的英文名字是“RedNote”。和TikTok不太一样，小红书上，人们除了看短视频，还可以看很多文章和图片。它的用户可以分享自己的生活，比如写关于旅行的文章，拍化妆的视频，或者发美食的照片。“用户”的意思是“用APP的人”。比如，“小红书的用户喜欢分享自己的生活。”“分享”就是“把好东西告诉别人”。比如，“她喜欢在社交媒体上分享美食照片。”
很多TikTok难民觉得小红书很有趣。有些中国学生会给这些美国人留言，请他们帮忙写英文作业。这些学生说：“你是美国人吗？可以帮我写我的英文作业吗？”很多美国人觉得又好笑又有趣。
除了好笑的事情，小红书也让美国人更了解中国人。以前，很多人觉得中国人讨厌美国人，但是在小红书上，他们看到的很多中国人都很友好。也有美国人说，他们以前以为中国人都很严肃，现在发现中国人很喜欢开玩笑，也很幽默。很多中国的小红书用户会和美国用户分享他们的生活，比如，他们去超市买东西买了多少钱，他们在饭馆吃了什么菜，他们每个月房租多少钱，他们上大学的学费多少钱，等等。很多美国用户都说，原来在中国生活这么便宜。
这个事情让我很感动。很多新闻说，美国和中国是敌人，但是，美国人和中国人可以是很好的朋友。

Hello everyone! Welcome back to MaoMi Chinese! Today, we’re diving into a topic that has been catching the attention of many Americans lately: TikTok and Little Red Book (Xiaohongshu). Recently, the US government has been considering banning TikTok. In response, many Americans, unhappy with this decision, have started using a Chinese app called Xiaohongshu. What have they discovered there? Have any interesting stories come up? Let’s explore this together today!
First off, what exactly are “TikTok refugees”? Recently, the US government claimed that TikTok might be “unsafe,” which could lead to it being banned. To ban something means to prohibit or not allow it. For example: “The school bans students from using their phones during class.” Worried about losing access to their favourite social media platform, many Americans began looking for alternatives. Unimpressed by other American social media platforms, they turned to Xiaohongshu.
Some Americans jokingly refer to themselves as “TikTok refugees.” The term “refugee” usually refers to someone forced to leave their home due to war or other crises. For example: “Many refugees fled their country because of war.” However, in this context, “refugees” humorously describes Americans who “fled” to Xiaohongshu due to issues with TikTok. It’s just a playful term but quite amusing!
So, what is Xiaohongshu? Xiaohongshu, or “RedNote” in English, is a hugely popular Chinese app. Unlike TikTok, Xiaohongshu isn’t just about short videos—it also features articles and pictures. Users can share their daily lives by writing travel articles, creating makeup tutorials, or posting food photos. A “user” is someone who uses an app. For example: “Xiaohongshu users enjoy sharing their lives.” And “sharing” means to tell others about something good. For example: “She loves sharing food photos on social media.”
Many TikTok refugees find Xiaohongshu fascinating. Some Chinese students even leave comments asking these Americans to help with their English homework. They say things like: “Are you an American? Can you help me with my English homework?” Many Americans find this both funny and interesting.
Apart from the humorous moments, Xiaohongshu also helps Americans better understand Chinese people. Some Americans used to think that Chinese people disliked Americans. But on Xiaohongshu, they’ve found many friendly Chinese users. Others admitted they thought Chinese people were always serious, but now they see that many enjoy jokes and have a great sense of humour.
Chinese Xiaohongshu users often share details of their daily lives with American users. For instance, they talk about how much they spend at the supermarket, what dishes they eat at restaurants, how much they pay for rent each month, or even the tuition fees for university. Many Americans are surprised, saying things like: “Wow, life in China is so affordable!”
This really touched me. While the news often portrays China and the US as enemies, Xiaohongshu shows us that Chinese and American people can be great friends.
