Why more and more people hate authority

MaoMi Chinese!

Hello everyone! Welcome back to MaoMi Chinese!

Recently, when I was reading news from the UK, I came across a news story that was both funny and sad. "哭笑不得" means that it makes you unsure whether to laugh or cry. This news story made me feel that way. A government official in the UK named Therese Coffey was asked, "As the cost of living increases, what should the government do to help people?" She replied, "One of the best ways for people to increase their income is to work overtime and put in a few extra hours each day." When netizens heard her words, they were almost driven crazy. "Driven crazy" means being extremely angry, to the point of going mad, because she completely failed to understand the difficulties faced by many people. In her opinion, if people are poor, it's because they aren't working hard enough.

Not just in the UK, but in China as well, there are more and more people who dislike certain experts. More and more young people complain that their salaries are too low, and one expert says, "Young people have low salaries because they lack ability." This sentence is like lighting a bomb that makes all young people in China furious. One important reason for the increasingly low salaries of young people is that the economy isn't doing very well, so people's incomes are decreasing. There are still many low-income people in China, so what should they do? An expert says, "They can rent out their extra houses, or work as part-time drivers with their own cars." When people heard what he said, they became even angrier. These low-income people don't even have cars or extra houses, let alone the luxury of renting them out. They work hard every day just to barely get by.

Nowadays, many young people can't find jobs after graduating from college. An expert gave this advice to young people: "If you can't find a job, you can get married and have children first." However, he doesn't realize that getting married requires a lot of money, and without a job, how could they possibly have the money to do so?

Why do more and more people dislike these experts? Firstly, because they are completely out of touch with the common people. "Out of touch" means that they don't understand the lives of ordinary people or their difficulties. Secondly, these experts are very arrogant and always look down on ordinary people. Another important reason is that the wealth gap is growing larger and larger. These experts are usually wealthy, so they can't understand the difficulties faced by poor people.
